The Bay Path Advantage in Special Education

A Tradition of Excellence

Our faculty draws from years of experience in the field as both academic experts and practitioners.  Students learn  the most current practices and policies. Bay Path has a tradition of excellence in teacher education. We consistently find outstanding placements for our graduates. Our students are often hired by the school district where they completed their practicum experience.

Professional Credentials

Bay Path offers a number of education programs approved by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) for teacher certification as leading to an initial teacher license in Massachusetts. In addition to meeting all degree requirements, students seeking certification must meet all testing requirements for their specific certification area as required by DESE.

Customized to your needs

Each program of study is individually designed with a program advisor and includes the option of licensure
or non-licensure. The MSEd combines the latest education theory with practical application. You will earn the skills, credentials, and confidence to serve in a variety of learning environments. The EdS is an advanced degree that provides students who already have a master’s degree with an area of educational specialization.

What makes Bay Path University's Master's Degree in Special Education stand out?

  • Our network of professionals and friends that is like no other. I graduated years ago from Bay Path and still have consistent contact with individuals in my program.
  • Our professors. They are extremely knowledgeable in the field of special education and the content they teach but also beyond caring and supportive of our students. They are always there for the students whenever and as often as needed.
  • Our unique practicum experience. We require a year-long practicum, not just 16 weeks, which allows teacher candidates to set the classroom tone, really get to know their students, and see progress throughout the year.
